PINE BLUFF, Ark. – ULM volleyball swept Arkansas Pine Bluff 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-21) in a non-conference match Monday night at H.O. Clemmons Arena. Madeline Williams led the Warhawks again with a match-high 16 kills while Brynn Botkin had a team-best nine digs in ULM's third sweep of the season.

ULM took an early edge in the first set and ran out to a seven-point advantage, but Arkansas Pine Bluff battled back to tie the set at 20 and 21 before taking a 22-21 lead. The Warhawks put two points on the board for a 23-22 lead, but the Golden Lady Lions answered to tie the set at 23. A kill by Williams gave ULM set point and a bad set put the Warhawks up 1-0.
 
The two teams had equal hitting percentages in the first set and equal team kill totals in set two (12), but the Golden Lady Lions had eight errors to only three for the Warhawks. ULM hit .243 for the set while Arkansas Pine Bluff was held to .095. Tessa Gerwig came through with two clutch kills late in the action to help ULM come back from a three-point deficit. Gerwig's second kill of the set gave the Warhawks a 21-20 lead and her final kill of the night gave the Warhawks the set victory.

The back-and-forth battle continued in the third set with 10 ties until the Warhawks scored 10 times over 12 opportunities to tie the set and then move on to the win. ULM had its best offensive attack in the third set where they hit .306 and finished the match at .254 as a team, one of the top-five performances of 2022. Williams had six of her 16 kills in the third set.
 
ULM continues its road trip this week with two Sun Belt Conference matches at Troy Friday, October 21 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, October 22 at 1 p.m. Both conference matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
