LAFAYETTE, La. – The Ragin' Cajuns scored five runs across the first three innings to take control and went on to a 7-1 win over ULM to claim the series in the series finale Saturday afternoon at M.L. Tigue Moore Field at Russo Park.
The Cajuns scored a run in the first inning, two more in the second and two in the third. ULM scored its only run on
Grant Schulz's RBI single, scoring
Mason Holt in the top of the third. The Cajuns led 5-1 for the middle portion of the game.
ULM had a chance to make a charge in the seventh inning, loading the bases with no outs, but failed to score a run. The Cajuns answered with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to extend the lead to 7-1.
Ryan Cupit and
Matthew Lee had two hits each for ULM. Trey LaFleur had two hits, including a 2-run homer, to pace the Cajuns. ULM outhit the Cajuns, 10-6.
Jeff Wilson (3-1) threw six innings, allowing a run on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts for the win for the Cajuns.
Lucas Wepf (1-3) allowed five runs on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts in three innings to take the loss.
The Warhawks return home to face McNeese at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
