Coffey opened the game with a lead-off single up the middle off ULM starter Gianni Hulett. Two batters later, Taylor Pleasants singled to center field, sending Coffey to third. Georgia Clark picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice as Coffey beat the throw home as the Tigers took a 1-0 lead.

Up next, Lourdes Bacon drove in a pair of runs on a single to center field, scoring Buck and Selman as ULM pulled to within 4-3.

"Last night's atmosphere was incredible," ULM head coach Molly Fichtner said. "It has been so much fun watching this sport grow over the years. When Lou hit that single to put us within one run, I've never heard a crowd that loud since being in the World Series. It was electric."

It remained a one-run game until the top of the fourth. Briggs drew another lead-off walk from Adrianna Chavarria, Pleasants singled to left-center field and Clark followed with a three-run homer to left center as the Tigers' built a 7-3 lead.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the seventh, LSU added to its lead as Karli Petty reached on an infield single to third that scored Briggs from third and Maia Townsend from second on a throwing error to extend the lead to 9-3.

LSU outhit the Warhawks, 10-4. The top three hitters in the Tiger lineup went a combined 7-for-13, scored five runs and drove in three (Coffey 3-for-5, Briggs 2-for-4 and Pleasants 2-for-4). Johnson posted her third multi-hit game of the season for ULM, finishing 2-for-3.
