ULM Drops Series Finale to South Alabama

MONROE, La. – South Alabama scored multiple runs in four of the seven innings, cruising to a 12-2 win in seven innings over ULM on Sunday to claim the Sun Belt Conference series, 2-1, at Lou St. Amant Field.
 
Jeremy Lee (1-5) tossed all seven innings for the win for South Alabama (17-18 overall, 7-8 Sun Belt Conference), allowing two runs on five hits with three walks and nine strikeouts. Five Jaguars had multiple hits. Tyler Borges hit a 3-run home run to open the scoring in the second inning and finished with two hits, four RBIs and three runs scored. Joseph Sullivan hit a solo home run to open the scoring in the 3-run fifth inning, picking up two hits on the game with an RBI and three runs scored. Cole Ketzner followed later in the fifth with a 2-run home run before adding a 2-RBI double in the seventh inning. Ketzner totaled five RBIs with a run scored. Will Turner and Trey Lewis also had two hits each.
 
Five different players had hits for ULM, while Carson Jones and Seaver Sheets drove in runs. Starting pitcher Hollis Huff (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts in two-plus innings. Seven different pitchers appeared in the game for ULM.
 
ULM plays seven of its next eight games on the road, starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Little Rock.
