Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi,
Imani Coleman and
Stafon Roach earned season-opening wins as the ULM track & field team opened the 2024 indoor season at the LSU Purple Tiger on Friday (Jan. 12) at Carl Maddox Fieldhouse in Baton Rouge, La.
On the women's side, five Warhawks claimed top-five finishes at the event, highlighted by Ilunga Mbuyi winning the triple jump with a leap of 42' 2".
Anna Naff took home second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:29.92. In the high jump,
Claudine Raud-Gumiel recorded a jump of 5' 3.25", good for second place.
Olaia Becerril Alvarez registered a jump of 18' 7.25" in the long jump and placed fourth in her first meet of the season.
Sohalia Schoen finished fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:32.42.
In his first collegiate meet, Coleman, a freshman from Zachary, Louisiana, was the top finisher in the 400 meters with a time of 50.12. His teammate, Joseph White, finished fourth place with a time of 51.00 and
Ericleon May placed fifth at 52.56. Roach, a freshman from Georgetown, Guyana, shined with a first-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 15.46m.
Jay Louison-Roe landed on the podium for the Warhawks with a third-place jump of 14.80m.
Reid Guirlando clocked a time of 2:00.28 and
Rojs Puks fired a 2:01.42 for a fith- and sixth-place finish for ULM.
Oscar Prieto recorded a mark of 4.72m for fifth place in the pole vault while
Dylan German finished sixth.
The ULM track & field team will be back in action next weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational starting on Jan. 19 in Nashville.
