MOBILE, Al- The ULM volleyball team lost a hard-fought game one 3-1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-19, 25-20) to South Alabama on Friday night.

The Warhawks (4-11 overall, 0-3 Sun Belt) started set one with a 3-1 score before the Jaguars (5-8 overall, 1-2 Sun Belt) scored the next eight points to take a controlling lead. USA rode the momentum for the rest of the set as it took a 1-0 set lead.

In set two, the Jaguars took a 4-3 lead. The Warhawks responded with an 8-2 scoring run to take an 11-6 lead. Another 8-1 run by ULM gave it control of the set. South Alabama only cut the lead to eight before an attack error secured the set for ULM.

After falling behind 4-3 to start the third set, the Jaguars used a 7-1 run to take a 10-5 lead. The Warhawks, with a 4-1 run, came within three points, but it was as close as they could get for the rest of the set. USA went up 2-1 into the fourth set.

Behind 9-6, ULM scored five straight to seize control. With the score tied at 15, two runs of 4-1 and 4-0 by South Alabama gave it control. A final kill ended the first game, giving ULM its third Sun Belt Conference loss.

Ariana Brown and
Taly Cloyd lead the Warhawks in kills with 14 and 11 respectively.
Morgan Howard tallied 36 assists, which is the second-highest amount in her career. She, along with
Kali Walker, collected 10 digs.
