TROY, Al. – The ULM volleyball team dropped the second of two matches against Troy 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-16) Saturday evening.
The first set started with a 6-5 Trojans (10-12 overall, 5-7 Sun Belt) lead. They added onto the lead with an 8-1 scoring run to go up by 8. Another scoring run by Troy, this time 8-1, gave the Warhawks (4-20 overall, 0-12 Sun Belt) no chance in the set, and they fell behind 1-0 after one.
The Trojans again started hot in set two with an 11-5 run. With the score at 18-9, ULM produced a 5-1 run to bring the deficit to five. It couldn't keep the momentum, however, as Troy matched every point it scored. The Warhawks ended the set with a seven-point loss.
With the score at 5-5 in set three, Troy scored six straight points to take control. ULM responded with a 6-1 scoring run to come within one point. The Trojans scored four straight to reestablish control. With the score at 19-15, Troy used a final 6-1 to send the Warhawks home with a weekend sweep.
Ryley Boyne led the team in kills with nine.
Morgan Howard had 23 assists, and
Cameron Rogers produced 17 digs.
The Warhawks return home next weekend with a series against instate rival Louisiana Lafayette. Match one serves on Thursday, November 7 at 6 p.m.
