Ylan Guerin Pozzalo Notches Top-5 Finish at Border Olympics

The freshman from Bourg St. Maurice, France finished eight strokes under par for the tournament.

LAREDO, Texas -- Ylan Guerin Pozzalo completed his first tournament of the spring tied for fifth in the final results as the ULM men's golf team competed at the 2024 Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas.

As a team, the Warhawks finished ninth out of 17 teams after shooting an 854 (282-286-286) in the three-round tournament.

Guerin Pozzalo fired 208 strokes in three rounds after totaling 70 in round one, 68 in round two and 70 in round three. He completed the tournament with 12 birdies, one eagle and 36 pars. Melan Dhaubhadel finished under par in all three of his rounds for a tournament score of 212, which was a tie for 15th place. Dhaubhadel's best round came in the second round of the tournament when he fired a 70. Theis Poulsen recorded a pair of even-par rounds after scoring his best round of the week with a score of one-under par in the third round. Poulsen tallied 215 total strokes in a tie for 26th place. Mikkel Schmitt (228) and Hayes Hamilt rounded out the scoring for the Warhawks.

Illinois State captured the tournament championship after shooting an 832. Lipscomb, North Texas and Rice tied for second with a total of 848. Five teams were separated by two strokes. Houston, Michigan and Sam Houston all accumulated 852 while Troy totaled 853, one stroke less than ULM.

The Warhawks are back in action Sunday (Feb. 25) at the UNCG Dorado Beach Collegiate Tournament at Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico.
