SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The ULM beach volleyball team (2-0) started the season in a big way with wins over UT Martin and Lindenwood on the first day of the 2024 season in Springfield, Mo.
The Warhawks began the day with a 3-2 win over UT Martin after winning flights 1, 2 and 3. The Skyhawks were receiving votes in the national AVCA Coaches' Preseason Poll.Â
Kaitlyn Nowak and
Madeline Marquez claimed a win for the Warhawks in pair 1 after dropping the first set, 21-19. The duo rallied for a 21-19 win in set two and a 15-11 win in set three.
Kaitlyn Beck and
Claire Williamson swept their match at No. 2 with two 21-18 wins.
Kaylie Beck and
Tamsie Black clinched the victory for ULM with a hard-fought 2-1 win at No. 3. The pair won set one 21-17, fell in set two, 21-19 and earned the clinching point with a 15-8 victory in set three.
Beck and Williamson kept the momentum rolling versus Lindenwood and swept their opponent after a 23-21 set-one win and a 21-12 set two victory. Beck and Black again won 2-1 after a 15-8 set three win.
Eden Anderson and
Kate Taylor won their first match of the season with a 2-0 win (21-15, 21-12) in flight five.
The Warhawks will complete its trip in Springfield on Saturday with matches versus Southwest Baptist and Missouri State at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.
