MONROE, La. – The ULM softball team (14-5) continued its winning ways with an 8-0 run-rule victory over Jackson State (10-3) on Wednesday (Feb. 28) night at the ULM Softball Complex in Monroe, La.

The Warhawks totaled nine hits, with four Warhawks swinging for two hits in the game including
Lourdes Bacon,
Carys Platt, and both Brown sisters (
Meagan Brown and
Morgan Brown).
Morgan Brown lifted her first collegiate home run in the fifth inning.
Andie Edwards led ULM with three RBIs while
Jacelyn Buck added one hit.

Maddie Nichols and
Victoria Abrams shut the Tigers down in the circle and combined for 10 strikeouts. Nichols improved her record to 6-2 on the season and allowed one hit and struck out six in three innings. Abrams tossed three innings and struck out four batters, allowing one hit.

Nichols retired the first three Tigers she saw and tallied a pair of strikeouts in the top half of the first. Platt singled on a bunt and advanced two bases to third on a wild pitch. With one out, Edwards drove in Platt for the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly. The Warhawks scratched across another run in the bottom of the first with two outs when
Meagan Brown singled up the middle and stole second. After a wild pitch moved her to third, her sister,
Morgan Brown, hustled down the line and beat the throw at first for an infield hit to make the score 2-0 in favor of ULM. Nichols worked around a leadoff walk and punched out two Tigers in a scoreless second inning. JSU kept the Warhawks off the scoreboard in the bottom of the second.

After Nichols struck out two in the third, ULM added a run in the third after
Meagan Brown stole second and Bacon crossed home on the throw. Abrams took over in the circle at the start of the fourth inning and worked around an error for a shutout fourth inning. Edwards drove in her second RBI of the night on a sacrifice fly that scored Platt in the fifth.
Meagan Brown followed with her first career home run that sailed over the right field wall to put her team ahead, 5-0.

The Tigers hit a double with two outs in the sixth. Abrams recorded the final out of the inning on a comebacker and completed the sixth scoreless inning of the night. Platt stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and was hit by a pitch that allowed
Jacelyn Buck to score. Edwards walked for her third RBI of the night and scored
Madison Blount. The Warhawks won the game on an RBI fielder's choice by
Meagan Brown that scored Bacon, and ULM earned a run-rule win.

The Warhawks will welcome Nicholls to Monroe for a three-game set starting on Friday (March 1). The first game of the series will be played at 6 p.m. from the ULM Sports Complex.
