SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The ULM beach volleyball team (13-11) went 2-2 this weekend at the Sacramento State Beach Volleyball Tournament in Sacramento, Calif. The Warhawks defeated San Francisco and Pacific and dropped close matches to Santa Clara and Sacramento State.
Match One - Santa Clara 3, ULM 2
Maggie Cox and
Katie Felts posted a win for the Warhawks in flight five with a 22-20, 21-17 win over Alexia Gallegos and Jordan Bennett of Santa Clara. ULM's flight two pair of
Kaitlyn Beck and
Claire Williamson won in straight sets versus Noelle Niederman and Sveva Munneke, 21-8, 21-17. The Broncos rallied and claimed the final three matches after Alexandra Urbina and Alexie Epstein won flight four 2-1 over
Eden Anderson and
Kate Taylor (15-21, 21-19, 15-9). Santa Clara's flight one duo of Elena Radeff and Katie Kishton won 21-16, 21-19 over
Kaylie Beck and
Tamsie Black and Casey Campbell and Ella Duffner defeated
Kaitlyn Nowak and
Bailey Hope 21-13, 21-18 in flight three for the win.
Match Two - ULM 3, San Francisco 2
Felts and Cox took flight five 21-14, 21-19 and Beck and Williamson won flight two, 21-13, 21-12 to give the Warhawks a 2-0 start. The Dons won flight four over Nowak and Hope in a three-set battle. Beck and Black outlasted their opponents in flight one and took set three, 18-16 to clinch the win for ULM.
Match Three - Sacramento State 4, ULM 1
The Hornets started the duel with a pair of three-set victories in flights two and four. Playing in their third match of the day, Felts and Cox once again won in straight sets, 21-18, 21-16, that made the match score 2-1 in favor of Sac State. The Hornets sealed the win with a flight three victory and went on to win flight one as well for a 4-1 win.
Match Four - ULM 5, Pacific 0
On Saturday, Felts and Cox were awarded a forfeit win in flight number five. Anderson and Taylor rolled in flight four with a 21-11, 21-7 win that gave ULM a 2-0 cushion. Beck and Williamson secured the match victory for the Warhawks in flight two with a 23-21, 21-10 win. Nowak and Hope defeated their opponents in flight number three with by winning both sets by the score of 21-15. Beck and Black capped off the weekend with a thrilling three-set comeback win with a 21-14 win in set two and a 16-14 set three win.

The ULM beach volleyball team will travel back to Louisiana and will prepare to play in the LSU Beach Invitational from April 12-13 in Baton Rouge.
