MONROE, La. – ULM scored in every inning, with multiple runs in five of six innings, cruising to a 17-2 win over Alcorn in seven innings Wednesday night at Lou St. Amant Field.
Hasani Johnson paced ULM (20-25 overall) with three hits, including a home run, with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Easton Winfield had a pair of hits and finished with a career-high five RBIs.
Michelle Artzberger homered for the second-straight night among his two hits and drove in three runs.
Gavin Caston led Alcorn (4-35) with two hits while Nathan Gamez hit a 2-RBI single in the third inning for the only runs of the game for the Braves.
ULM took the lead and never looked back with a three-run bottom of the first inning. Winfield hit a 2-RBI single to right and
Jake Haggard brought in a run on a fielder's choice for the 3-0 lead.
The Warhawks doubled the lead in the second inning as
Colby Lunsford picked up a bases loaded walk, Artzberger earned an RBI on a groundout and Winfield hit a sacrifice fly for the 6-0 advantage.
After Gamez hit the 2-RBI single for Alcorn in the top of the third, ULM answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning as Johnson hit an RBI single, Lunsford added a sac fly and Artzberger hit a 2-run homer to go ahead 10-2.
Marcus Aranda drove in a run with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning for the 11-2 lead.
In the fifth inning, ULM added four more runs as
Shawn Dalton Weatherbee hit an RBI single, Winfield hit another 2-RBI single and
Carson Jones tacked on a sacrifice fly to go up 15-2.
ULM capped the scoring in the sixth inning as Johnson homered and
Chenar Brown collected an RBI on a groundout for the final 17-2 margin.

Holden Hess,
Seaver Sheets and
Steve Owings each threw a scoreless inning on the mound for ULM, with Robinson, Sheets and Owings striking out two batters each. Oswalt (1-1) earned the win in the start with two walks and one strikeout.
ULM continues a six-game homestand at 6 p.m. Friday vs. Georgia Southern.
