The ULM soccer team will be hitting the road for the first time this season to take on Southern University on Sunday morning in Baton Rouge. The Warhawks are looking to continue their winning streak, as they dominated the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions 9-0 in Monroe on Thursday night.
Â
SERIES HISTORY –
ULM and Southern will meet on the pitch for the first time since 2022, a 2-1 win for ULM in Baton Rouge. The lone win for the Jaguars in the series was a 6-1 score on Sept. 12, 2021 in Baton Rouge. The first meeting was a 6-1 Warhawk win in Monroe on Sept. 5, 2006. ULM has allowed just one goal in all 11 meetings.
Â
SUNDAY MORNING SOCCER –
The matchup in Baton Rouge was originally scheduled for 1 p.m., but the heat and humidity of August in Louisiana has led to a schedule change to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. This is not the Warhawks' first experience with morning soccer due to the heat. When ULM traveled to Huntsville, Texas to take on Sam Houston last season, the match was rescheduled to 11 a.m. to accomodate for the heat. At the time of kickoff, the temperature in Baton Rouge is expected to be 90 degrees, with the heat index at approximately 109 degrees.
