SCOUTING THE JAGUARS –Â
The Jaguars post a 4-7-3 record in 2026, going 2-3-2 in Sun Belt play. In nonconference action, South Alabama defeated Alabama State and Southeastern Louisiana. In Sun Belt contests, the Jaguars shut out Troy and the Ragin' Cajuns, claiming draws against Coastal Carolina and Arkansas State. The 1-1 tie against the Red Wolves was the most recent contest for the Jaguars. Aliya Gomes leads the team with 12 points (5g, 2a), while Sun Belt Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year Sierra Giorgio holds it down in goal with two shutouts and an 0.89 goals-against average.
SERIES HISTORY VS. SOUTH ALABAMA –
The Jaguars hold a strong 19-1-2 record in the series, dating back to ULM's first season in 1999. The lone win the Warhawks have taken over South Alabama was in 2021, a 3-1 victory in Monroe. ULM has not won a match in Mobile in program history, taking two recent draws at home against USA. The last time the teams faced off was a 2-2 tie in 2025.
SHOT ACCURACY –
The Warhawks lead the Sun Belt with a .529 shot accuracy, ranking 21st nationally. ULM has logged 187 shots, with 99 on target this season. Jenni Huttunen leads the team with 31 shots, also leading with 20 shots on goal.
LAST TIME OUT –
The ULM Warhawks took the win over the UL-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns in a 3-1 contest in Monroe. This extends ULM's unbeaten streak over the Cajuns to four. An early save for Jen Handy gave way to a Warhawk-heavy contest. After a yellow card was handed to Madelyn Linenkugel, it was a free kick from Ines de Lope Casanova that led to an own-goal from the Cajuns. ULM captured the lead in the 12th minute, as the visitors worked to erase their error. The opportunity came just three minutes later, when Miki Kurihara's free kick curved past Handy for the equalizer.
The Warhawks made quick work to defend their side of the pitch. But the teams were knotted at one at halftime. In the 52nd minute, a pass from Jade Bowé allowed for de Lope to score her sixth goal of the season. ULM's defense, paired with six saves from Handy, prevented any additional scores from the opponent. Following a second yellow card for ULL in the 73rd minute, another foul came for the Cajuns, as Amy Sharkey took her second penalty kick of the season to secure the 3-1 victory.
#1 IN GOAL –
Jen Handy returns for a third season in goal for the Warhawks after earning the starting role in her first. Named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team in 2025, Handy currently holds multiple ULM records, including shutouts in a season (7, 2024). In her career, her 1.37 goals-against average ranks second all-time, as well as her wins (24) and shutouts (13). Handy ranks fourth nationally in goalie minutes played (1501:35), ranking fourth in the Sun Belt with 69 saves.
LOOKING AHEAD –
The Warhawks will conclude the regular season at Brown Stadium on November 1, hosting the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. The 2026 finale will kick off at 1 p.m.
