MONROE, La - The ULM volleyball team dropped game two of the opening weekend for Sun Belt Conference play 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-18) to Southern Miss on Saturday.

In the first set, both teams were even to start. With the score at 7-7, the Golden Eagles (6-8, 2-0) went on an 8-1 scoring run to take a commanding seven-point lead. They rode the momentum towards the end of the set. Although the Warhawks (4-10, 0-2) mounted a late rally, USM, with a final kill, ended the set.

In set two, both teams were once again deadlocked with the biggest run being 3-0 from ULM. With a 5-1 run, the Warhawks took a 19-16 lead. However, just like set three of game one, the Golden Eagles rallied late, scoring nine of the last 12 points to win the set and go up 2-0.

USM wasted no time in set three with a 15-3 score. Although ULM was within five points late, it was too late, and the sweep was secured for the Golden Eagles.

Taly Cloyd and
Ariana Brown both had 10 kills on the match.
Morgan Howard tallied 24 assists, and
Briana Raney led the team with 16 digs.

The Warhawks continue their Sun Belt slate with a road trip to Mobile, Alabama to face South Alabama. Game one takes place on Friday, October 4, and 6 p.m.
