ARLINGTON, Tx – The ULM volleyball team fell on Thursday in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-13) loss to McNeese State.
The first set began with the Cowgirls wasting no time with an 8-4 start. They then produced a 7-0 scoring run, resulting in a 15-4 score. The Warhawks pulled off a 7-1 run to put themselves behind only five. With the score 22-14 in favor of McNeese, ULM used a 5-1 run to cut the deficit to four, but two kills by McKenzie Moore shut down the first set.
Like set one, the Cowgirls raced out to a 9-4 lead in another quick start. This time, ULM responded quicker tying the set at 11-11. Using scoring runs of 5-1 and 4-1, McNeese pulled away and kept control of the set, winning by five.
The third set started competitive with the Warhawks trailing by five with a 17-12 score. The Cowgirls scored eight out of the last nine points to secure the sweep.
The Warhawks only produced 22 total kills with
Taly Cloyd having the most with five.
Morgan Howard had 11 assists, and
Cameron Rogers produced 14 digs.
ULM returns to action tomorrow, Friday, September 6, to take on Santa Clara at 2:30 p.m.
