ARLINGTON, Tx – The ULM volleyball team dropped its second weekend matchup with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-12) to Santa Clara.
The first set started well for the Warhawks with a 7-4 start, including a 5-1 scoring run. The Broncos responded with a 6-1 run to gain control. Another Santa Clara 6-1 run put the game from close at 14-12 to out of reach at 20-13. The Broncos rode the rest of the way for a first-set win.
Set two started with an 8-3 start for Santa Clara before ULM used a 5-1 run to cut the lead to one. The Warhawks were in striking distance down 13-10 before a Bronco run of 5-1 put the deficit to seven. Once again, the set was never close from then on, and Santa Clara won the set by eight.
The Broncos set the tone in set three with a 7-1 start. Helped by scoring runs including an 8-1 run, Santa Clara sealed the set and the match.
Ariana Brown once again was the leader in kills with 9.
Kailey Friedrich was the leader in assists with 10, and
Cameron Rogers led the team in digs with 12.
The Warhawks look to avoid the sweep tomorrow on Saturday when they play the host team UTA at 3 p.m.
