Warhawks Fall to No. 13 Oklahoma State, 6-0

ULM Soccer takes their first loss on the road, getting shut out for the first time this season.

STILLWATER, Okla. – The ULM soccer team (6-1) fell to No. 13 Oklahoma State (6-0-1) on the road this afternoon, 6-0. The Warhawks ended their unbeaten streak for the season after multiple Cowgirl goals and a red card sending Jennifer Handy off the field.
 
Both teams opened the match vying for control of the ball, shots taken by the Warhawks and the Cowgirls in the first 15 minutes. In the 20th minute, Logan Heausler was able to reach the back of the net, putting Oklahoma State in the lead. Just seven minutes later, Xcaret Pineda knocked another back, extending the Cowgirls' lead, 2-0. 
 
In the 33rd minute, goalkeeper Handy got a red card, giving Emerson Roberts the opportunity to enter the match. She ended the first half logging three saves.
 
To open the second half, the Cowgirls looked to extend the lead further, with the Warhawks looking to open the scoreboard on their end. In the 55th minute, Heausler posted a brace, making the tally 3-0. Just over 10 minutes later, multiple shots gave Oklahoma State's Laudan Wilson an opportunity to get in on the scoring action, extending the lead 4-0. In the 79th minute, Nicole Ray added to the tally with the fifth goal of the match. In the 85th minute, Mabry Williams also got in on the action, making the score 6-0.
 
Roberts continued to show her power in goal throughout the match, logging three more saves in the final 45 minutes, making her total six in the match. 
 
Oklahoma State led in shots, 26-5, shots on target, 14-5 and corners, 9-0. ULM goalkeepers tallied seven saves to the Cowgirls' four. Mara Grutkamp led the charge for ULM with two shots, both on target. Freshman Sky Hull also posted a shot on goal, her career first.
 
The Warhawks remain in Oklahoma this week, looking to come back against the Oklahoma Sooners on Thursday evening. ULM and Oklahoma will kick off at 7 p.m. at John Crain Field.
