HAMMOND, La. – Three ULM soccer players were named to the 2024 All-Louisiana College Women's Soccer Team, revealed by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association on Saturday (Jan. 18).
ULM freshman goalkeeper
Jennifer Handy was named LWSA All-Louisiana Freshman of the Year, while senior midfielder
Mara Grutkamp was named to the All-Louisiana First Team.
Skylar Blaise earned Honorable Mention All-Louisiana with Handy named honorable mention as well.
Handy was named the top freshman in Louisiana after a stellar 2024 campaign, tying the top spot in program history for season shutouts (7) and fifth in goals-against average (1.34) as a true freshman. The seven shutouts also ranked the freshman first in the Sun Belt to close the season. The goalkeeper also claimed All-Louisiana Honorable Mention. This is Handy's first postseason award and ULM Soccer's first All-Louisiana Freshman of the Year.
Grutkamp is named to the All-Louisiana First Team after a record-breaking senior season, named to the All-Sun Belt First Team as well. The senior midfielder collected four goals and six assists throughout the season, also achieving a nationally-ranked .638 shot accuracy. This is the fourth time Grutkamp has been named to an All-Louisiana team, named Honorable Mention for the last three seasons. She tied the all-time points and assist record at ULM this season, with 56 and 24, respectively. She is on the leaderboard in eight other categories, including career goals, shots, shots on goal, game-winning goals and starts.
Blaise claimed All-Louisiana Honorable Mention in her second season at ULM. The senior led the team with 17 points and seven goals, posting a brace against James Madison (Oct. 4). She is second in the Sun Belt in shot accuracy (.568), hitting 25 shots on target of 44 to earn top honors.
The team was chosen by a group of voters from state media relations and communications offices and selected media based on nominations made by each University. School media relations voters could not vote for players from their own schools.
