MONROE, La. – ULM volleyball dropped match two of the weekend series 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-14) to Arkansas State Saturday afternoon.

The Red Wolves (11-6, 4-2 Sun Belt), similar to the first match, started set one on fire with an 8-2 run. Trailing 13-5, the Warhawks (9-11, 0-6 Sun Belt) tallied three points in a row to close the gap to five, but a run of 10 unanswered points for ASU produced a blowout in the set, and a 1-0 hole for ULM.

In the second set, both teams played more competitively to start, with Arkansas State holding a 10-6 lead. Scoring 11 of the next 13 points, ASU assumed control of the set with a commanding 13-point lead. The Warhawks worked the set to ten points before three final points from the Red Wolves ended the set.

In the third, ASU stormed out to an 8-4 lead before ULM answered with a 5-2 run, resulting in a 10-9 contest. With a 6-2 scoring run, built by six kills, the Red Wolves took a decisive five-point advantage. With the score at 17-13, they scored eight of the final nine points to secure the win and the weekend sweep.

The Warhawks will return to the court next Thursday for a two-match series against Marshall in Huntington, W. Va.
