NEW ORLEANS – ULM women's golfer
Tessa Ion was voted Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Week, as selected by the league's head coaches and communications directors.
Tessa Ion had a stellar week, picking up her first individual title in the Lady Red Wolves Classic at Sage Meadows Golf Club. Ion carded a 207 (-9) across 54 holes, including an eagle in the final round to claim the victory by three strokes. After going two-under and three-under in the first 36, Ion launched a hole-in-one from 164 yards to card a 68 in the final 18. Ion's 54-hole score of 207 also ties ULM's program record.
"I am very excited for Tessa and her first individual title," said head coach
Rachel Pollock. "She's an incredible hard worker and I am so happy her hard work is paying off."
Ion becomes the first ULM women's golfer to be named Player of the Week this season, the last being
Daniela Campillo last season.
Ion and the ULM women's golf team will travel to Starkville, Mississippi to continue the fall season, competing in The Ally. The tournament, hosted by Mississippi State, begins on October 20.
