HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – ULM volleyball dropped its ninth straight contest with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-17) to Marshall Friday evening.

Kennedy Plummer and
Madison Derden served as the main attackers for the Warhawks (9-13, 0-8 Sun Belt), with both having 10 kills each.
Morgan Howard had her second-highest assist performance of the year with 31 total.

ULM started the first set with a narrow 4-3 lead. The Thundering Herd (11-10, 3-5 Sun Belt) responded with a 7-1 scoring run to take control of the set. A 4-1 run by the Warhawks put them back into the set as they trailed by three.

Down 16-11, the away squad produced a 6-2 run to cut the gap to one. Marshall jumped back in control with a 4-1 run and had ULM on the ropes with a 24-20 score. Three straight points by the Warhawks, which included two kills from Plummer, almost extended the set, but a final error gave Marshall the 25
th point, resulting in a 1-0 match lead.

Set two was lopsided from the start, as the Herd assumed a 9-1 lead. The Warhawks never came within eight points for the rest of the way, as they fell into a 2-0 deficit for the match.

Marshall again started hot in the third, controlling the pace with a 7-3 lead, but the Warhawks responded with a 5-1 scoring run, equalizing the set at 8-8. With the score at 14-13 in favor of the home team, the Herd used an 8-2 run to take control of the set with a seven-point lead. With a final kill by Marshall, it took the set and the match.

The Warhawks will start the second half of Sun Belt play with a road trip to San Marcos, Texas, to take on Texas State.
