BATON ROUGE, La. -- The ULM beach volleyball team (3-3) fell 4-1 to No. 10 LSU and dropped a match to North Alabama 3-2 on Friday (Feb. 28) at the Tiger Beach Challenge in Baton Rouge, La.
Match One: No. 10 LSU 4, ULM 1
The Warhawks captured a win in pair No. 5 with
Kobie Fowler and Hope Bailey winning in three sets (21-19, 15-21, 15-9) over LSU's Yali Ashush and Elle Evers. The Tigers won pair No. 4 after Skylar Martin and Tatum Finalson swept
Gracie Behneke and
Zsa Zsa Ferguson, 21-9, 21-13. LSU's Emily Meyer and Camryn Chatellier won 2-0 in flight three over
Katie Felts and
Maggie Cox, 21-17, 21-14. Julia Sprecher and Aubrey O'Gorman took flight two over
Abby Ryno and
Claire Williamson (23-21, 21-17) and Parker Bracken and Gabi Bailey won 2-0 in flight one over
Kaitlyn Beck and
Madeline Marquez (21-10, 21-18) to wrap up the match.
Match Two: North Alabama 3, ULM 2
The Lions swept flight five after Hailey Benesz and Kaitlyn Holbrook won 21-10, 21-16 over Hope and Fowler. Ferguson and Behneke bounced back with a close three-set win over Lucy Wedding and Mabrey Whitehead after falling in the first set 20-22, 21-18, 15-13. UNA took flight three 2-0 over Felts and Cox following 21-16, 21-12 victory for Aurora Bibolotti and Paige Griner. Ryno and Williamson edged the Lions' No. 2 pair of Ryenne Gepford and Pien Grooters in three sets, 13-21, 21-16, 15-7. UNA's Katy Floyd and Selma Robinson earned the team's third point with a win over Beck and Marquez, 21-9, 21-16.
