Louis Anceaux claimed his first collegiate title with a score of -6 (210) and was crowned individual champion at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate on Tuesday (Feb. 4) at Playa Paraiso Golf Course in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. As a team, the Warhawks finished sixth at a score of +35Â out of 15 teams.
Anceaux opened the tournament with a score of four under par after sinking five birdies for a low round score of 68, leading the field. In Monday's second round, Anceaux again made five birdies and managed to work around four bogeys, turning in a second round score of -1 (71). The Groslay, France, native concluded the tournament with another score of -1 (71) and fired a trio of birdies to take home the hardware for his first collegiate win, finishing first out of 89 golfers.
Theis Poulsen delivered a second round score of -3 (69) for his lowest round of the tournament and drained seven birdies in the round. Poulsen was ULM's second highest finisher at +11 (227) and finished tied for 32nd.
Rory Milne tallied a three-round score of +18 (234) and finished in a share of 52nd place.
Tommaso Rossin surged 15 spots up the leaderboard on the final day of competition Tuesday with his tournament low score of +2 (74) and compiled a +21 (237) for a share of 60th place.
Javier Balbastre +23 (239) completed ULM's lineup for the tournament.
Caden Lester competed as an individual and scored +31 (247) in his first tournament as a Warhawk.
SMU won the tournament by 15 strokes and finished the tournament at even par. UTEP placed second at +15 while North Texas finished third at +20.
ULM men's golf continues its spring season at the Border Olympics on Feb. 17-18 in Laredo, Texas.
