BATON ROUGE, La. -- The ULM beach volleyball team (5-3) picked up a pair of victories over USF and UT Martin on Saturday (March 1) at the Tiger Beach Challenge in Baton Rouge, La.
Match One: ULM 3, USF 2
Ryann Genest and Bailey Chine claimed a win for the Bulls in pair five winning 21-18, 21-11 over
Kobie Fowler and
Bailey Hope. The Warhawks' fourth pair of
Katie Felts and
Maggie Cox evened the score, 1-1, after
Katie Felts and
Maggie Cox won in two sets, 21-14, 21-18 over USF's Alyx Zapatka and Cornelia Crudu. After dropping the first set 21-17,
Gracie Behneke and
Zsa Zsa Ferguson battled back to win set two, 23-21. The pair fell to Mia Sheepens and Morgan Anderson in a close third set, 16-14. The Warhawks notched the match victory with crucial wins in pairs one and two.
Madeline Marquez and
Kaitlyn Beck defeated Ola Stardnik and Sam Crosby, 21-10, 21-18 in pair one while
Abby Ryno and
Claire Williamson sealed the win for ULM in pair two with a 21-13, 23-21 victory over Audrey Gauthier and Bella Almeida.
Match Two: ULM 4, UT Martin 1
Fowler and Hope collected a 2-0 win at pair five for ULM after a 21-16, 21-19 victory over Sydney Eckhardt and Ryan Rednour. Felts and Cox edged Kristin Phillips and Reagan McGee 21-14, 21-18 for a ULM win in pair four. The Skyhawks salvaged a win in pair three with Olivia O'Keefe and Kayla Bryant winning 21-15, 21-17 over Behneke and Ferguson. Ryno and Williamson cruised to a 21-12, 21-13 win in pair two versus Riley Rushing and Dylan Sulcer to secure the win for the Warhawks. In pair one, Beck and Marquez won 2-0 versus Dylan Mott and Jenna Vallee 21-15, 21-10 to give ULM a 4-1 victory.
