MONROE, La. – The ULM beach volleyball team played its first home matches of the season on Friday (March 7) from the ULM Beach Volleyball Courts. The Warhawks fell to No. 11 LSU and Stephen F. Austin.
 
Match One: No. 11 LSU 5, ULM 0
LSU's Elle Evers and Kate Baker swept the No. 5 pair 21-10, 21-17 versus ULM's Bailey Hope and Kobie Fowler. Zsa Zsa Ferguson and Gracie Behneke battled in the second set versus Emily Meyer and Skylar Martin, but the Tigers prevailed 30-28 and won the match 2-0 to go along with a 21-19 win in set one. Aubrey O'Gorman and Julia Sprecher secured the victory for the Tigers in pair two with a match-clinching win of 21-19, 21-11 over Abby Ryno and Claire Williamson. Rounding out the scores in the first match included a 21-17, 21-14 pair three win for LSU's Tatum Finlason and Camryn Chatellier over Katie Felts and Maggie Cox and a 21-16, 21-13 pair one win for Gabi Bailey and Parker Bracken over Kaitlyn Beck and Madeline Marquez.
 
Match Two: SFA 3, ULM 2
The Lumberjacks claimed victory in the first two matches following a three-set win in pair five (21-10, 16-21, 15-13) for Victoria Simmang and Hailey Prodan over Behneke and Fowler and a two-set win in pair four (26-24, 21-14) for Kylie Golden and Ashley Boswell over Cox and Ferguson. The Warhawks climbed back into the duel after Beck and Marquez bested Katherine Hansen and Savannah Johnson in pair one, 21-16, 21-18. ULM's pair two of Ryno and Williamson evened the match score 2-2 with a thrilling three-set win over Kelly Johnson and Elaina Amador (21-18, 18-21, 15-8). The pair three match between SFA's Olivia Zeigler and Lizzie Denyer and ULM's Felts and Avery Hunter was split after two sets with the Warhawks winning set one 21-15 and the Lumberjacks claiming set two, 21-19. The third set featured several lead exchanges and tied scores, but the Lumberjacks edged the Warhawks, 15-12, to secure the third point and win the match.
 
The Warhawks will wrap up the ULM Bayou Bash tomorrow with a 9 a.m. rematch versus SFA and a 2 p.m. battle with LSU at the ULM Beach Volleyball Courts.
