Beach Volleyball Preview: Georgia State Diggin' Duals

The Warhawks are set to play five matches in Atlanta this weekend.

The Basics
The ULM beach volleyball team gears up for its penultimate tournament of the regular season as the Warhawks compete at the Georgia State Diggin' Duals Friday through Saturday. The Warhawks are slated to play a doubleheader on Friday versus Stetson at 7:30 a.m. CT and Eastern Kentucky at 12 p.m. CT.  The final day of the tournament will be a tripleheader for the Warhawks as ULM will face Sun Belt Conference foe Georgia State at 7:30 a.m. CT followed by non-conference matches versus North Alabama at 9:45 a.m. CT and another round versus EKU at 1:30 p.m. CT.

Live results will be provided for all matches with live scoring links available on the beach volleyball schedule page. ULM's Saturday morning match at Georgia State will be broadcast on ESPN+.

About the Warhawks
After a pair of victories at McNeese and two wins at the Pontchartrain Beach Bash versus New Orleans and Nicholls, ULM extended its winning streak to five games last weekend. The Warhawks climbed to .500 with a 12-12 overall record and carry a 2-3 SBC record into their final match versus a conference opponent on the schedule.

Gracie Behneke and Zsa Zsa Ferguson won every set they completed last weekend and went 3-0 overall and led 1-0 in a match that was called due to weather. The pair is 7-3 in their last 10 matches and is 9-6 overall. In the No. 4 pair, Katie Felts and Maggie Cox have won their last five matches dating back the the Warhawks' 4-1 win versus Southern Miss at the SBC Mid-Year Tournament. Abby Ryno and Claire Williamson have played at the No. 2 pair every match this season and are 13-9 overall while Kaitlyn Beck and Madeline Marquez are 13-10 at the No. 1 pair. Kaelyn Fredette-Huffman and Avery Hunter have played at the No. 3 pair for the last five matches and are 3-2 in their last five matches.

Scouting the Opposition
The Hatters are 19-9 overall and defeated No. 3 LMU last weekend in Laguna Beach, Calif. before falling in close matches to No. 6 Cal Poly, No. 11 Long Beach and No. 17 Hawaii. Stetson checks in at No. 14 in this week's AVCA Collegiate Beach Poll. The Colonels have won four of their previous five matches after sweeping Austin Peay, UCA, Tusculum and Morehead State at the ASUN North Challenge. The Panthers hold a perfect 6-0 Sun Belt Conference record and defeated College of Charleston, Southern Miss, UNCW and Mercer at the SBC Mid-Year Tournament. North Alabama arrives in Atlanta with a 14-10 overall record and a 6-4 conference mark and is on a five-match winning streak.

ULM's final tournament of the regular season will be held next weekend from April 18-19 at the Fight in the Fort hosted by TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
