ATLANTA -- Abby Ryno and
Claire Williamson captured a trio of wins on Saturday (April 12) as the ULM beach volleyball team (12-17) wrapped up competition at the Georgia State Diggin' Duals.
Match One: No. 18 Georgia State 4, ULM 1
All four of the Panthers' victories were 2-0 scores. Michaela Jefferson and Danica Singleton defeated
Paige Ingersoll and
Maddie Peterson 21-12, 21-16 in pair five. Amanda Chambers and Carolina Zimovan won 21-17, 21-13 versus
Maggie Cox and
Zsa Zsa Ferguson in pair four. The first pair of Aree Keller and Ayla Johnson claimed their match 21-11, 22-20 versus
Kaitlyn Beck and
Madeline Marquez. In pair three, the Panthers won 21-16, 21-9 when Aliisa Vuorinen and Ella Mozeleski defeated
Avery Hunter and
Kaelyn Fredette-Huffman. Ryno and Williamson won a thrilling three-set match versus Destiny White and Savannah Ebarb and came back after dropping the first set 17-21 and won sets two and three 21-17, 15-10, respectively, for their first win of the day.
Match Two: UNA 3, ULM 2
Cox and Ferguson swept Lucy Wedding and Mabrey Whitehead in pair four 21-12, 21-18, to give ULM an early lead. The fifth pair of the Lions, Hailey Benesz and Kaitlyn Holbrook, prevailed in three sets versus Ingersoll and Peterson, 16-21, 21-16, 15-12, to take the match and even the score. UNA's first pair that featured Katy Floyd and Selma Robinson defeated Beck and Marquez in two sets, 21-12, 21-11. Ryno and Williamson rolled 21-16, 21-17 over Ryenne Gepford and Paige Griner to even the match score, 2-2. Hunter and Fredette-Huffman won the opening set 21-17 versus Aurora Bibolotti and Pien Grooters before the Lions rallied back to take set two 21-11 and the final set 15-11 for the win.
Match Three: EKU 4, ULM 1
Emily-Kate Lonergan and Reagan Sandlin won 21-16, 21-15 versus Cox and Ferguson in pair four. The Colonels won a three-set match in pair five when Bella Williams and Elpida Pitsigkoni edged
Brooke Bankston and
Gracie Behneke 21-12, 19-21, 15-13 to take a 2-0 lead. Madalyn Richardson and Riley Cutler clinched the match with a 21-16, 21-12 win in pair three versus Hunter and Fredette-Huffman. Ryno and Williamson won their third match of the day with a two-set win over Rachel Mueller and Gabriella Armitage, 21-18, 21-15. EKU won in pair one in three sets, 21-14, 14-21, 15-11 with Paityn Walker and Molly Shomock victorious over Beck and Marquez.
The Warhawks will play at the Fight in the Fort next weekend in Fort Worth, Texas, the final tournament of the regular season.
