Beach Volleyball Preview: Fight in the Fort

The Warhawks head to Fort Worth for the final tournament of the regular season.

The Basics
The ULM beach volleyball team is set to play in its final tournament of the regular season at the Fight in the Fort in Fort Worth, Texas, held Friday, April 18-19 on the campus of TCU.

ULM vs. Houston Christian | 4 p.m. CT

Saturday, April 19
ULM vs. Missouri State | 10 a.m. CT
ULM at No. 2 TCU | 4 p.m. CT

About the Warhawks
The Warhawks dropped a pair of matches to ranked opponents last weekend at the Georgia State Diggin' Duals in No. 14 Stetson and No. 18 Georgia State. ULM lost tight matches to North Alabama and Eastern Kentucky at the same event by scores of 3-2. After a pair of victories at McNeese and two wins at the Pontchartrain Beach Bash versus New Orleans and Nicholls, ULM won five-straight games, which was its longest winning streak of the season during the first weekend of April. The Warhawks are 2-4 versus Sun Belt Conference opponents.

Abby Ryno and Claire Williamson won all three of their matches on Saturday in the No. 2 pair and are the Warhawks' winningest pair with a 17-10 overall record. Kaitlyn Beck and Madeline Marquez are 13-15 overall and have played every match in the No. 1 pair. Katie Felts and Maggie Cox have gone 11-11 in 22 matches played together and have gone 6-4 in their last 10 matches. Freshman Zsa Zsa Ferguson has posted a 13-12 record while Gracie Behneke has gone 9-9 in her first season at ULM.

Scouting the Opposition
The Lopes are 19-9 overall and travel to Fort Worth after a 2-2 weekend in Hawaii, defeating the No. 16 Rainbow Warriors twice and falling to No. 10 Cal twice. The Huskies went 2-2 at LSU's Battle on the Bayou last weekend and picked up wins over New Orleans and Southern Miss. Missouri State is 16-5 overall after going 2-2 at the Blazer Beach Bash with wins over Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech and losses versus UAB and Chattanooga last weekend. No. 2 TCU is 21-5 coming into this weekend and went 2-2 last time out at the Center of Effort Challenge after collecting wins over No. 12 Arizona State and No. 3 Cal Poly and falling to No. 2 UCLA and No. 4 LMU.
