FORT WORTH, Texas -- The ULM beach volleyball team (13-20) bounced back with a 3-1 win over Missouri State (16-8) before falling to No. 2 TCU (25-5) to wrap up the regular season on Saturday (April 19) at the TCU Beach Volleyball Complex in Fort Worth, Texas.
Match One - ULM 3, Missouri State 1
Abby Ryno and
Claire Williamson swept MacKenzie Steele and Amanda Cleary 21-19, 25-23 in pair two for the first point of the match. The Bears took the pair four match with Manuela Niemeyer and Rylie Cepicky defeating
Maggie Cox and
Zsa Zsa Ferguson 21-15, 21-15. ULM claimed the lead when
Maddie Peterson and
Brooke Bankston picked up a win in pair five 21-18, 21-15 versus Olivia Rattler and Erin Eschleman. The Warhawks secured the win with a pair one win when
Kaitlyn Beck and
Madeline Marquez won 21-17, 21-16 versus Becca Bach and Allyson Larkin for ULM's third point. The pair three match between
Avery Hunter and Kalyn Fredette-Huffman and Maddie Schrandt and Morgan Sprague was split 1-1 when it was called.
Match Two - No. 2 TCU 5, ULM 0
The Horned Frogs took the pair two match 21-11, 21-19 with the duo of Maria Gonzalez and Allanis Navas taking the match 21-11, 21-19 over Ryno and Williamson. Cameron Guttell and Anhelina Khmil increased the lead to 2-0 with a 21-17, 21-19 win over Cox and Ferguson in pair four. The no. 1 pair for TCU, Daniela Alvarez and Hailey Hamlett, clinched the win for TCU with a 21-12, 21-11 victory over Beck and Marquez in the first pair match. TCU won both pairs three and five with a 21-13, 21-13 win by Anete Namike and Ana Vergara over Peterson and Bankston and a Brooke Sheely and Lucana Araco picking up a 21-14, 21-12 win versus Hunter and Fredette-Huffman.
