MADISON, Miss. -- The ULM men's golf team nearly completed its first round at the Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship on Monday (April 21) before play was suspended due to thunderstorms around the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss., with the Warhawks in a tie for seventh place at +3.
Four of the five Warhawks completed their rounds as
Theis Poulsen regrouped from two double bogeys on the first nine and fired four birdies on the second nine to turn in a scorecard of 71 (-1) and holds a share of 11th place individually.
Caden Lester shot a 73 (+1) in a round that featured a pair of birdies and a score of 35 (-1) in the first nine holes.
Rory Milne totaled a 75 (+3) while
Javier Balbastre fired a 76 (+4).
Louis Anceaux has three holes remaining in his first round and is even par through 15 holes.
Play will resume tomorrow (April 22) morning at 7:30 a.m. as teams will complete the first round before the second round follows after. Arkansas State currently holds the lead with a score of -10 while James Madison sits in second place at -4. Coastal Carolina completed its first round with a score of -3 while The Ragin' Cajuns and Troy both share fourth place at -2. Arkansas State's Thomas Schmidt is the individual leader after posting a 64 (-8) in his first round. JMU's Daniel Cheng is in second place at -6 thru 15 holes while ODU's Jacob Gunter has completed 12 holes at -4 for third place.
