NEW ORLEANS -- ULM sophomore
Daniela Campillo, who won her first individual championship and set a program record score of 207 (-9) in a 54-hole tournament at the ULM Invitational, was named Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week after a vote by the league's head coaches.
Campillo fired a pair of 5-under 67 rounds on Monday and began the tournament with a score of 10-under par. She drained 13 birdies and one eagle in the first 36 holes of the event. In Tuesday's final round, Campillo recorded a 73 (+1) and hung on to win her first career individual championship, helping the Warhawks place second overall as a team. Campillo recorded 16 birdies in the tournament and set the ULM women's golf program record for lowest score in a 54-hole tournament.
This marks the second time Campillo has been selected as SBC Women's Golfer of the Week, as Campillo earned the honor after her collegiate debut in September of 2023 when she finished tied for third at 2-under-par 214 at the USA Intercollegiate.
The Warhawks set their sights on the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship April 14-17 in Fairhope, Ala.
