NEW ORLEANS -- The ULM beach volleyball team (12-12) pushed its winning streak to five games after claiming two wins at the Pontchartrain Beach Bash with a 4-1 victory over New Orleans (3-24) and a 5-0 sweep versus Nicholls (0-22).
Match One: ULM 4, New Orleans 1
Gracie Behneke and
Zsa Zsa Ferguson continued their strong play in pair five and cruised to a 21-10, 21-11 win over Savannah Moberly and Lindsey Neal.
Katie Felts and
Maggie Cox delivered a 21-13, 21-15 win in pair four over Ashley Salazar and Dayla Ward to give the Warhawks a 2-0 edge.
Avery Hunter and
Kaelyn Fredette-Huffman secured the victory for ULM with a three-set win in pair three after a 21-15, 18-21, 15-10 win versus Renata Dykstra and Mona Salgado.
Abby Ryno and
Claire Williamson followed with a 21-17, 21-11 win versus Tristin Smith and Grace Hinchman while UNO's no. 1 pair of Ivana de Carvalho Peixe and Nikelle Lander won 2-0 over ULM's
Kaitlyn Beck and
Madeline Marquez.
Match Two ULM 5, Nicholls 0
The Warhawks dominated and won every pair by a score of 2-0. Behneke and Ferguson surrendered just 15 points in their win versus Hailey Mason and Mackenzie Glenn, 21-6, 21-9. Felts and Cox won 21-11, 21-16 in pair four over Rubee Anderson and Evelyn Espinosa while Hunter and Fredette-Huffman sealed the match win with a 21-13, 21-19 victory versus Tierney Terrell and Claire Reed in pair three. Ryno and Williamson won in pair two versus Jordan Gamble and Addison Prine, 21-12, 21-10. Beck and Marquez completed the match sweep with a 21-7, 21-9 victory over the Colonels first pair of Quincy Cummard and Olivia Lunt.
