LAWRENCE, Kan. – Junior
Daniela Campillo notched another individual championship, guiding the ULM women's golf team to its first tournament title of the 2025-26 season at the Jayhawk Invitational. The Warhawks closed out the tournament with a 10-stroke lead over host Kansas.
"This week was total team effort," said head coach
Rachel Pollock. "Everybody contributed to this team win. I am excited to see them progress through the rest of the season. All five girls were inside of the top 15 which shows the depth of our lineup. This is Dani's second career win after an impressive final round, which was the low round of the tournament."
After the first 36 holes, the Warhawks held a three-stroke lead over their hosts. Campillo finished the final round three strokes under par, flying up the ranks to tie Kansas Jayhawk Amy DeKock for first. She finished with a three-round score of 219 (+3) in the 58-player field. This was Campillo's second career win, the first coming in the ULM Invitational last season.
"There is no doubt that starting the season with a win as a team and also as individual is the best way to begin," said Campillo. "I think this tournament has been a marathon as we have been improving round by round to reach the first place. I am very happy to be surrounded by the best team."
ULM posted scores of 294-293-292 (+6, +5, +4) in the three rounds.
Johanna Sjursen finished tied for third place, reaching +5 overall and logging an eagle in the first round of the tournament. Sjursen tied with fellow Warhawk
Zoe McLean-Tattan, who made her Warhawk debut by shooting five-over. McLean-Tattan also fired two even-par rounds in Lawrence.
Anna Andrysova shined, tying for seventh at +7 and shooting under par in round two.
Emma Manzini also made her ULM debut at the Jayhawk Invitational, scoring +11 overall to finish 12
th.
Isabel Mas Pitarch finished at +13, but closed out the third round two under par.
The Warhawks will continue the fall season on September 15, traveling to University Place, Washington for the Leadership and Golf Invitational, hosted by Seattle University.
