Preview: Volleyball Takes on Bearkat Classic

The Warhawks will play outside of Louisiana for the first time in 2025.

MONROE, La. – ULM volleyball concludes its non-conference schedule this weekend in Huntsville, Texas at the Bearkat Classic. The Warhawks will face Houston Christian on Friday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. and Sam Houston on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES –
HCU has won five straight matches which includes a sweep at the Bulldog Bash this past weekend, winning over ULM, Jackson State, and Louisiana Tech. Allana Archie represents the top threat on the attack with 2.89 kills per set and a. .248 percentage. Setter Peyton Fadal totals 9.43 assists per set, and Anna Melgren is the top defender with 2.91 digs per set.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARKATS –
Sam Houston holds a 6-4 record coming into the weekend, winning two of three matches at the Islanders Classic in Corpus Christi. Chloe Monson is the top attacker with 4.00 digs per set along with hitter Chelsea Bulter, who has a .379 hitting percentage. Avery Fowler averages 7.20 assists per set, with Shealin White totaling 4.27 digs per set with 188 total.
 
CLEAR THE HALL –
Freshman outside hitter Aniya Hall has had a stellar 2025 season so far. She leads the team in total kills with 174 and in kills per set with 3.95. Her hitting percentage also ranks second on the squad at .255. In her last match vs. Lamar, she collected a career-high 29 kills in a five-set victory. With 46 kills, she earned Cowgirl Classic All-Tournament Team honors, her second all-tournament team of the 2025 season.
 
PLUMMER WILL FIX IT –
Freshman Kennedy Plummer is fresh off an excellent start to her career as a Warhawk. She is second on the team in kills per set with 2.53 and is hitting .239 on the year. Along with fellow outside hitter Hall, Plummer was named to the Cowgirl Classic All-Tournament team last weekend.
 
IN KENZIE WE TRUST –
Junior middle blocker Kenzie Behl serves as one of the key contributors in a 8-4 start to the season. She, along with Hall, was named to the Southeastern Showdown All-Tournament team. She is fourth in total kills with 64 and is third in hitting percentage with a .245 mark. Her defensive production is also good with 41 total digs and 35 total blocks which leads the team.
 
MORE OF MORGAN –
Junior setter Morgan Howard is the main returner for the Warhawks in 2025. She is averaging 5.93 assists per set through three games with 261 total. She is also the team leader in service aces with 30, which is more than the leader of the 2024 season through just 12 matches. With her total aces, she ranks second nationally in the category. Her defensive numbers rank well on the team as she holds third place in total digs with 93.
 
RANEY ON TO DEFEND –
Redshirt Junior libero Briana Raney leads the way defensively for ULM this season. She has produced 123 total digs with 3.97 digs per set with a .978 reception percentage. She also contributes 31 assists on the year offensively.
