KINGSVILLE, Texas – The ULM beach volleyball team (1-3) split the second day of the Javelina Beach Classic on Saturda1 (Feb. 21), dropping a matches to McNeese before claiming a victory over Sam Houston.
Match 1: McNeese 4, ULM 1
The Warhawks in pair five went to three sets (22-24, 23-21, 7-15), as the duo of
Paige Ingersoll and
Samantha Rodriguez ultimately fell to the Cowgirls. Flight four, of
Brooke Bankston and
Maddie Peterson, was swept with scores of 18-21, 15-21.
Calli Otjen and
Abby Ryno snagged a victory as pair three over Bethanie Durant and Reese Russell in a three-set contest (21-16, 19-21, 15-8). Pair two also went to three sets, claiming the second 21-10 before falling in the third, 15-6.
Avery Hunter and
Madeline Marquez on court one were also swept in two sets (21-14, 21-18).
Match 2: ULM 3, Sam Houston 2
ULM picked up its first win of the season as pair five of Ingersoll/Sondrup swept the Bearkats, 21-15 and 21-13.
Brooke Bankston and
Maddie Peterson followed suit with a 21-13, 21-19 win for the 2-0 advantage. Lexi Higgins and Freedom Stephenson of Sam Houston took Otjen/Ryno in straight sets, but
Natalie Taggart and
Izabela Zukowska bounced back in a three-set victory (19-21, 21-14, 15-12). The duo of Hunter/Marquez fell in straight sets as flight one.

The Warhawks will travel to Baton Rouge on February 27 to face the Tigers.
