BIRMINGHAM – Benedikt Schweizer and Joshua Gill highlighted day one of the Sun Belt Indoor Championships for ULM track and field on Monday.
 
Schweizer produced a second-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 19.12m, while Gill reached the podium with a 14:37.23 time in the 5000m. Nathan Wade just missed the top three in the long jump with a 7.36m result.
 
Four Warhawks advanced to the 400m final in Mario Santin (48.02), Thibault Buchard (48.15), Matthew Malcolm (48.34) and Imani Coleman (48.92). Other athletes that qualified for final events include Joseph Morgan in the men's mile, J'Marcus Sewell in the 200m and Lenja Wiechers in the women's mile.
 
Day two will start with the Heptathlon events at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
