MONROE, La. – The ULM beach volleyball team found success at home once again, picking up a 4-1 win over Stephen F. Austin to open the weekend. All four courts won by ULM were sweeps over the Jacks.
ULM 4, SFA 1
Flight one of
Abby Ryno and
Claire Williamson saw early success on the first court, defeating SFA's Rich/Allison with a straight sweep (21-12, 21-11).
Madeline Marquez and
Avery Hunter also claimed sweeps, with a close 21-19 score to open, but closing with a 21-15 win.
Paige Ingersoll and
Izabela Zukowska snagged the 21-18, 21-13 sweep as well to keep the Warhawks ahead. Flight five also picked up a win, with
Brooke Bankston and
Maddie Peterson defeating the duo of Damborowiski/Franca (21-13, 21-13). While
Katie Felts and
Natalie Taggart forced a third set with a second-set victory, it was the third set that had SFA claiming their lone court win of the contest (21-13, 18-21, 15-11).
The Warhawks will be back in action tomorrow, facing Missouri State at 9 a.m. and Tarleton State at 1:30 p.m. to conclude the ULM Bayou Bash. ULM will also be honoring its senior class prior to the 1:30 contest, at 1 p.m. on the ULM Beach Volleyball Courts.
