MONROE, La. – 16 runs allowed on 15 hits sunk ULM baseball (8-7) in a 16-6 loss to Southeastern (6-7, 2-1 SLC) Wednesday evening.

The pitching struggles for the Warhawks continued as the staff allowed a combined 14 walks and three hit batters, resulting in 17 free passes to SLU batters. They also allowed three runs via walk and two with hit batters.

ULM started the game with a scoreless frame, collecting a strikeout in the process. A
Davis Mauzy single into left field on the first pitched followed by a
Bryce Blaser walk, put two runners on with no outs. After a
Kade Dupont bunt moving the runners over, two straight outs ended the threat.

Two straight hits to start the inning put the Lions on the board first. After a walk and a groundout, an RBI-single scored the second run of the game for the away team. Blaise Priester lined a ball to right field to score two runs, making it 4-0 at the top of the second inning. A wild pitch with a runner on third made the mark five.

Three more runs came in to score at the top of the third for the Lions to make it an 8-0 ballgame. With a runner on at the bottom of the third,
Dayne Wray launched his fifth homer of the season, going 373 feet to left field to get the Warhawks on the board. The Lions added three more at the top of the fourth to increase the margin to nine runs.

After another two runs were added to the deficit, the Warhawks responded in the bottom of the fifth. A walk and a double with the bases loaded by
Jackson Landry put four runs on the board, resulting in a 13-6 score after five.

SLU immediately gained two runs back via a double and bases load walk to move the gap back to nine. Both teams went scoreless for the next five frames, going into the top of the ninth. The Lions added another run to result in a 16-6 score. ULM got out three more times to finalize the series sweep.

Landry led the team in RBI with three, while Wray also recorded a multi-RBI performance, collecting two hits.

The Warhawks travel to Arlington, Texas, for a weekend series against UT Arlington starting on Friday, Mar. 6, at 6 p.m.
