BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The ULM Warhawks (6-21, 1-4 Sun Belt) fell in both matches in the second day of the Blazer Beach Bash, hosted by UAB. ULM went 1-3 on the weekend, defeating conference opponent Mercer on Friday (April 10). The Warhawks fell in a 4-1 score to HCU, before falling to Tulane, 5-0, on Saturday.
Match 1: HCU 4, ULM 1
Izabela Zukowska and
Avery Hunter were the first pair to fall in straight sets (21-13, 21-17). But
Brooke Bankston and
Maddie Peterson on court four claimed victory in two sets, 21-15, 21-18.
Abby Ryno and
Claire Williamson fought in the first flight, but fell 21-15, 21-17.
Calli Otjen and
Ava Sondrup played in three sets after claiming the first, 21-19. But the Huskies battled in a reverse sweep, 21-14, 15-12.
Katie Felts and
Paige Ingersoll concluded the contest, falling in two sets (21-18, 23-21).
Match 2: Tulane 5, ULM 0
Ingersoll/Hunter dropped on court two to open the contest, 21-11, 21-12. Bankston/Peterson also dropped as the fourth duo (21-18, 21-11), while Ryno/Williamson were also swept in straight sets (21-16, 21-16). Felts/Zukowska were swept with identical scores, 21-8, 21-8. Otjen/Sondrup in the fifth flight concluded the match, 21-13, 21-11.
The Warhawks will next travel to New Orleans, competing at Tulane beginning on April 17.Â
