Women's Golf Preview: Sun Belt Conference Tournament

The second-seeded Warhawks look to expand on success from the regular season.

POINT CLEAR, Ala. – The ULM women's golf team is set to travel to The Lakewood Club in Point Clear, Alabama for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The second-seeded Warhawks are set to tee off on April 20 for the first round. 

This marks the second year the SBC Women's Golf Championship will be held at The Lakewood Golf Club's Dogwood Course. The 54-hole tournament features three rounds of stroke play on the par-72, 6,164-yard course. All rounds of the championship will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with Dan McDonald on the call, and live results will be updated on Scoreboard.

The championship will begin with three rounds of stroke play, April 20-22 at 8 a.m. CT each day in a split-tee format with six teams teeing off on No. 1 and seven teams starting at No. 10. The Warhawks tee off at 8 a.m. from hole one and are paired with Texas State and South Alabama.

Following 54 holes of stroke play, top four teams will advance to match play on Thursday, April 23 with the No. 1 and No. 4 seed beginning at hole No. 1 and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds teeing off at hole No. 10 at 7:30 a.m. The championship match will follow the conclusion of the semifinal matches.

About the Warhawks
The ULM women's golf team most recently claimed an eighth-place finish at the "Mo" Morial Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M, with a team score of 921. Senior Johanna Sjursen led the Warhawks to success with her first individual title under her belt this season. Sjursen claimed the win by two strokes, defeating 15 ranked players. Sjursen posted two even-par rounds to finish one-over for sole custody of the individual title. She also carded 10 birdies in the process. Next on the leaderboard for the Warhawks was Zoe McLean-Tattan, who placed 36th of 84 competitors with a score of 232. Emma Manzini was close behind with a total score of 233, carding a +1 in her opening round. Anna Andrysova carded a 239 to finish 57th on the board, individual Tessa Ion also finishing 57th with a 239. 

The Warhawks have brought home first-place finishes in four tournaments, twice in the fall and two times in the spring. To open the fall season, ULM defeated Kansas in the Jayhawk Invitational, also claiming victory in the Lady Red Wolves Classic. In the spring, ULM picked up the three-peat in the Great River Cup matchplay event, outlasting conference opponent Southern Miss. Most recently, the Warhawks snagged the 14-stroke lead and win in the ULM Invitational. The Warhawks completed the regular season with a 57-48-1 record and a stroke differential of -1449 versus all opponents.

Andrysova recorded a pair of top 10 finishes, including a third-place finish at the ULM Invitational. She turned in two scorecards in the red, including a 14th-place finish in the Lady Red Wolves Classic. Daniela Campillo has turned in one scorecard in the red, finishing fourth in the Lady Red Wolves Classic. She also has an individual title from the Jayhawk Invitational under her belt. Tessa Ion was the first golfer this season for ULM to claim Sun Belt Golfer of the Week honors, finishing with a score of 207 (-9) to win the individual title at the Lady Red Wolves Classic. Freshman Emma Manzini has participated in nine events, finishing in the red in her third-place finish in the Lady Red Wolves Classic. Zoe McLean Tattan, also in her freshman season, has recorded two even scorecards, including a strong finish in the Chevron Collegiate. Johanna Sjursen, the reigning two-time honoree of Sun Belt Golfer of the Week, has been on a tear in her senior season. Sjursen has recorded a pair of scorecards in the red and four top-10 finishes. Sjursen most recently recorded an 11-under finish for second place at the ULM Invitational, turning around to claim the score of 217 (+1) for the invidual title at the "Mo" Morial Invitational.

ULM is looking to capture its first SBC title since 2023 when head coach Rachel Pollock led ULM to its first-ever Sun Belt Championship in a playoff versus Texas State.
