ULM Warhawks

RUSTON, La. – The ULM Warhawks (2-2-1) fell in a 2-0 contest at the Ruston Sports Complex to Grambling State (1-1-1) on Thursday evening (Aug. 27). The Tigers' Nyla Dore-Anderson scored both goals to keep the Warhawks at bay.
 
Early shots came in favor of the Tigers, even as ULM fought to score as well. Multiple corner kicks gave the Warhawks opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net. In the 20^th minute, Dore-Anderson found the net after two prior shots made, giving Grambling the 1-0 lead.
 
While the Warhawks continued to log shots and get past goalkeeper Alina Arneth, the score remained unmoved at the halfway point, 1-0.
 
Early shots continued to come as the second half began for ULM, but the shots were not converting into scores. First year Charli Harris recorded multiple shots in the fight for the equalizer. But it was Dore-Anderson that found the back of the net against in the 81^st minute, extending the lead for the 2-0 score.
 
The Warhawks led with nine shots to Grambling's eight, while the Tigers recorded six shots on target to ULM's four. Both teams tied with four saves apiece, as the Warhawks claimed seven corner kicks to lead, along with 11 fouls.
 
Harris was the lone Warhawk to log multiple shots in the contest with three, finding one on target. Six other players recorded shots in the contest. Goalkeeper Jen Handy remained in goal for the full 90 minutes, recording four saves and allowing the two goals.
 
The Warhawks will remain on the road this weekend, facing SEC opponent Ole Miss on Sunday (Aug. 30) at 1 p.m.
