BEAUMONT, TEXAS – The ULM volleyball team (5-8) fell in four sets to North Dakota (6-5) on Saturday morning to close out the Lamar Invitational.
Tatum Clay hit a career-high .636 (7-0-11) with no errors, and made a career-high four aces. Aniya Hall led the team with 16 kills and set a career high in aces (3) as well.
North Dakota went up 15-10 at the media timeout in the first set, and never surrendered the lead. The Fighting Hawks took the set 25-19, but Aniya Hall dominated the Warhawks' stats, hitting .615 (9-1-13).
ULM took a 12-9 lead after three unanswered points to begin the second set, thanks to swings from Aniya Hall and Abby Cunningham. The Warhawks put up another three straight points on a Kenzie Behl kill, an ace from Hall and a kill by Grace Troxell. Tatum Clay landed two aces to bring it to set point. Abby Cunningham's fifth kill of the match made it 25-18 ULM and tied the scoreboard at 1-1.
The third set was tight early on, with seven ties and four lead changes, until North Dakota scored three straight points to lead 15-12 heading into the break. The Warhawks tied the score again at 16, but the Fighting Hawks took control of the set once again, winning it 25-23.
ULM and North Dakota battled to establish themselves in the fourth set, but neither team could run away with the score. The Warhawks led by three at the media timeout, but North Dakota swung the score right back in its favor. Each team traded the lead one more time, but it was the Fighting Hawks who came out on top, winning the set 25-23, and the match 3-1.

The Warhawks will take the court next Thursday to open Sun Belt play against Arkansas State on the road. First serve is set for 6 p.m. in Jonesboro.
