BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
Micaiah Dendy and Eric Hawkins produced a pair of third-place finishes to lead the way for ULM as the Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships concluded at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Eleven individuals and three relays scored points for the Warhawks during the two-day event.

Dendy reached the podium to claim a bronze medal in the women's triple jump after stretching herself for 40-feet, 8 ¼-inches. Hawkins earned his first Sun Belt medal in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.08.

"I'm proud of how our kids competed, especially considering the number of freshmen that we have on this team," head coach J.D. Malone said. "Congratulations to our four individual medalists. I also was happy with the way the men's 4x400 unit competed today, and the women's unit had a solid performance as well."

Freshman Eran Siboni concluded the men's 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 48.37, finishing fourth in the event. Levaughn Battick streaked down the 60-meter hurdles track in 8.23 to also lay claim to fourth place.

On the men's side, both Lebrun Nelson (triple jump) and Micah Dye (shot put) were responsible for fifth-place finishes. Nelson leapt 48-3 1/2 in the event, marking his second-longest distance of the season. Nelson was one of two Warhawks in the event, along with Colm Bourke, who took 12th with a mark of 44-6 3/4.

Dye's season-best heave of 53-3 (16.23 meters) marked the third time this winter that he topped at least 50 feet in the shot put.

The seventh Top-5 finish came from the women's 4x400 meter relay unit of Brittany Roberson, Jasmine Williams, Sydney Curry and Fiebe Tengrootenhuysen, which completed the event in 3:54.46.

Freshman Jasmine Williams wrapped up her first appearance at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships by placing eighth in the 60-meter hurdles by crossing the line in 8.89.

The men's 4x400 relay of Nolan Smith, Bryce Moore, Siboni and Hawkins finished eighth with a time of 3:21.69.

Austin Walker, who recorded personal bests in five events in the men's heptathlon, placed ninth overall with 4,863 points. He wrapped out Tuesday's competition with a fourth-place performance in the shot put at 40-2, marking his highest finish.

Rebekka Schubert posted season bests in four of five events in the women's pentathlon and finished 11th overall with a personal-record 3,214 points. Schubert delivered three Top-10 finishes on Tuesday.

ULM finished eighth in the final men's standings with 40 points while the Warhawk women placed ninth out of 12 teams with 21 points.

Selected ULM individuals will compete in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 8-9 in Birmingham. The remainder of the team will head to Lake Charles, Louisiana, to kick off the outdoor season on March 9 at the McNeese Cowboy Relays/Bob Hayes Louisiana Challenge.
