Coastal Rolls Past Warhawks

Monroe, La. - No. 16 Coastal Carolina scored in each of the final five innings of the game to rally past and pull away from ULM 14-2 Saturday afternoon at Warhawk Field.

ULM led 2-0 early with Ryan Humeniuk scoring twice, once in the first inning on an RBI-bloop single by Trent Tingelstad, and again in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Braedon Barrett. The Warhawks would follow up Barrett's sacrifice fly with a single by Chad Bell and a double by Tingelstad, but stranded the runners on base to end the inning.

Coastal started its comeback in the fifth inning. Scott McKeon hit a solo home run to open the inning to cut the deficit to 2-1. Three walks in the inning set the table for the Chanticleers, as Jake Wright collected a 2-RBI single and Kieton Rivers added an RBI single to make it 4-2 Coastal.

The Chants expanded the lead with a run in the sixth inning, and added two more in the seventh, before busting the game open with a grand slam by Mike Koenig as part of a six-run eighth inning. Coastal added a run in the ninth for the final margin.

Humeniuk, Barrett and Tingelstad each had two-hit days for ULM, with Barrett and Tingelstad picking up doubles.

Austin Kitchen picked up the win for Coastal Carolina, throwing five innings with two runs, one earned, on seven hits, one walk and one strikeout. Jeans suffered the loss, going four innings with three runs on one hit with five walks and four strikeouts.

ULM and Coastal Carolina wrap up the series on Sunday with first pitch at 11 a.m. at Warhawk Field. Links to live video, audio and stats are available at ULMWarhawks.com.
