NASHVILLE – The ULM track and field teams combined for 13 Top-10 finishes at the Vanderbilt Invitational Friday and Saturday, while
Claudine Raud-Gumiel set the school record in the women's pentathlon with 3,660 points.
The Warhawk men's team had seven Top-10 placings while the women added five.
Raud-Gumiel finished sixth in the pentathlon. She set personal bests by placing third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.74) and eighth in the high jump (5-4 1/2). She also was seventh in the long jump (18-1), ninth in the shot put (34-10 1/2) and 11th in the 800 meters (2:34.43).
Also for the women,
Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi was fourth in the triple jump (42-0 1/2),
Olaia Becerril Alvarez was sixth with a personal record in the long jump (19-8 1/4),
Kimone Campbell was sixth in the 800 in 2:12.32, the team of Campbell,
Brianna Taylor,
Amanda Radava and
Eliana Battle was ninth in the distance medley relay (12:32.29) and
Nasya Ramirez set a personal best in the long jump to take 10th (19-2).
On the men's side,
Joseph McEvoy took second in the heptathlon while
Bailey Couch was fifth.
McEvoy set a personal record with 5,133 points, while also setting personal bests in the 60 (third, 7.22) and pole vault (sixth, 13-5 1/4). McEvoy was second in the high jump (6-4 1/4) and long jump (22-10 1/2), third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.64), fourth in the shot put (39-1 1/4) and eighth in the 1,000 meters (2:56.67).
Couch also set a personal record in the heptathlon with 4,729 points. He set personal bests in winning the 1,000 meters (2:46.52) and finishing eighth in the high jump (5-10 1/2) and 10th in the pole vault (12-1 1/2). Couch also finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.74) and long jump (21-5 1/2), ninth in the 60 meters (7.38) and 10th in the shot put (34-1 1/2).
Other Top-10 placings for the men included
Ali Eren Unlu taking second in the high jump (7-0 1/2), Jay Louison-Roe finishing fourth in the triple jump (49-4 1/4),
Devin Bilbo placing ninth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.17),
Cole Burgess taking ninth in the pole vault's open division (14-7 1/4) and the team of
Jay Parker, Joseph White,
Reid Guirlando and
Juwan Blignaut finishing ninth in the distance medley relay in 10:36.00.
Nine other personal records were set for the women.
Savanna Lawson set a personal best with 3,327 points in the pentathlon while adding personal records in the long jump (18-4 1/2), shot put (31-1 1/4) and high jump (4-10 1/2).
Amanda Radava finished the 800 in 2:16.12,
Lisa Warfvinge hit 40-3 1/4 in the triple jump, Taylor finished the 60 in 7.80,
Ansley Long closed the 5,000 in 18:58.4 and
Harlie Medrano threw 36-9 1/2 in the shot put.
Four other personal bests were set for the men. Blignaut finished the mile in 4:11.01, Jordan Hollis set a time of 7.05 in the 60,
Brayden Ortiz closed the 5,000 in 15:36.97 and
Madison Langley finished the 5,000 in 16:30.62.
ULM will send some jumpers to the Houston Invitational on Friday, while the rest of the team will return to action at either the Music City Challenge on Feb. 10-11 or the Samford Bulldog Invite on Feb. 11.
