MONROE, La. -- Carlo Martinez Jaramillo was selected the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Men's Cross Country Freshman of the Year, the association revealed on Monday (Dec. 18).

From Gatesville, Texas, Martinez Jaramillo earns LSWA Freshman of the Year accolades after a breakout freshman season. Martinez Jaramillo earned Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year honors and SBC Newcomer of the Year recognition after running a time of 25:15.4 in the 8K at the SBC Championships. He helped lead the Warhawks to a third-place finish, which was the best in the history of the program since joining the SBC.

The Second-Team All-SBC runner placed in the top 10 in four out of five meets, including a first-place finish in the 7K at the Louisiana Tech Mook 4 Invitational with a time of 23:18.9. He wrapped up the season with a top-75 finish at the NCAA South Central Regional with a 10K time of 31:34.9.
