BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The ULM track and field teams picked up eight first-place finishes, including six on the women's side, in the Samford Bulldog Open Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The Warhawk women's team had 11 Top-3 finishers, while the men five in the Top 3. Twelve different athletes set personal records on the day.
On the women's side,
Olaia Becerril Alvarez,
Claudine Raud-Gumiel and
Lisa Warfvinge all set personal records while winning their respective event.
Alvarez took the long jump with a distance of 20-3 3/4 (6.19 meters), setting a personal best. Warfvinge won the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 41-4 1/2 (12.61), while also finishing 10th in the long jump at 17-9 1/2 (5.42).
Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi was second in the triple jump at 41-4 1/2 (12.61) and fifth in the long jump at 18-8 3/4 (5.71).
Khrystyan Reddic added a sixth-place showing in both the long jump (18-4 1/2, 5.60) and the triple jump (37-10 1/2, 11.54).
Raud-Gumiel set a personal-best in winning the 60-meter hurdles in 8.68. She also added a second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 5-4 1/4 (1.63).
Kimone Campbell won the 800 in 2:16.12, while
Amanda Radava followed right behind in second place at 2:16.39. Radava and Campbell teamed with
Di'Keriun Straughter and
Stella Konstantinidou to win the women's 4x400-meter relay in 3:53.30.
Paula Vaquera Cervantes had a strong meet as well, winning the 3,000 in 10:14.79 and taking third in the mile in 5:05.99.
Ainsley Hamsher set a personal-best and took second in the pole vault, clearing 12-0 (3.66).
For the men,
Ali Eren Unlu earned his second win of the season, taking the high jump by clearing 7-1 3/4 (2.18).
Jay Louison-Roe won the first meet of his career, claiming the triple jump with a distance of 47-10 (14.58).
Jakob Fudge added a second-place finish in the weight throw at 58-10 1/4 (17.94) and was eighth in the shot put at 47-2 1/4 (14.38).
Dylan German placed second in the pole vault, clearing 14-10 (4.52).
Darshon Turk was third in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.29.

Sohalia Schoen in the 5,000 (19:18.34),
Savanna Lawson in the high jump (5-0 1/4, 1.53),
Sydney Lake in the weight throw (46-3 1/2, 14.11),
Anna Naff in the mile (5:22.95),
Ansley Long in the 3,000 (11:08.30),
Ryan Norton in the weight throw (50-4 3/4, 15.36),
Jay Parker in the mile (4:42.86) and
Reid Guirlando in the mile (5:05.80).
ULM returns to Birmingham for the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 20-21.
