MONROE, La. — Senior midfielder
Mara Grutkamp was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team after the conclusion of the regular season last week. The team captain collected four goals and six assists throughout the season, also achieving a nationally-ranked .638 shot accuracy.
This is the second time Grutkamp has been named to an All-Sun Belt team, the eighth athlete to be named all-conference since joining the Sun Belt in 2006. This is the fourth time since 2006 that a Warhawk has been named to the First Team.
On Thursday, Grutkamp tied the all-time points and assist record at ULM, with 56 and 24, respectively. She is on the leaderboard in eight other categories, including career goals, shots, shots on goal, game-winning goals and starts. Her six assists this season place sixth in program history, her fourth entry on that leaderboard.
"Mara is arguably the most talented soccer player to come through ULM," said Head Coach
Will Roberts. "She's fully deserving of the recognition, has been a joy to work with and is a phenomenal captain to this team."
The 2024 Warhawks finished the regular season 9-8-2 and 3-5-2 in the Sun Belt. Their 3-0 win over Southern Miss on Thursday got them a bid to the Sun Belt Conference Championship tournament in Foley, Ala. They will take on top-seeded James Madison on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
