TIP-OFF
• The ULM women's basketball team finishes a four-game road trip on Saturday (Feb. 17) at Troy. The Warhawks and Trojans will tip-off at 2 p.m. inside Trojan Arena.
• With Thursday's win at South Alabama, the Warhawks have secured their first winning season since 2010-11 with 16 wins. The program won a total of 14 games in the previous three seasons. ULM's six-game conference winning streak in January was the longest in ULM history in 19 years. The Warhawks strung together the longest conference winning streak (six games) since the 2004-05 team, who won 11-straight conference games to conclude the regular season.
• Last time out, The ULM bounced back with a 68-60 road victory over South Alabama and snapped a four-game losing streak on Thursday at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala. Four Warhawks finished in double figures, led by Nunu Bradford with 17 points. Bradford was two rebounds shy of what would have been her third consecutive double-double and added three assists, a pair of blocks and one steal to her final numbers.
Sania Wells and
Katlyn Manuel both finished with 13 points while
Jakayla Johnson scored 11. Wells was 5-of-8 from the field and tracked down four rebounds. Manuel tallied eight boards to go along with a steal and an assist.
Brianna Harris posted nine points and eight rebounds. The Warhawks were held to 14.3% shooting beyond the 3-point arc while the Jaguars averaged 42.1% from long distance. ULM doubled South Alabama's points in the paint total and outscored the Jags 36-18 inside. The Warhawks took care of the basketball and won the turnover battle 14-8.
• In the Warhawks' first meeting versus Troy in Monroe, the Trojans snapped the Warhawks' six-game conference winning streak and defeated ULM 94-83 inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Both Nunu Bradford and
Jakayla Johnson scored above 20 points while
Sania Wells totaled 17. The Trojans outrebounded ULM 66-35 on the glass and racked up 30 offensive rebounds and 33 second-chance points.
SATURDAY'S GAME BASICS
ULM and the Trojans will meet for the second time this season Saturday afternoon at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala. The Warhawks have not defeated Troy since the 2016 season and have not won inside Trojan Arena since 2014. Troy leads the all-time series, 16-14. Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+. The game also will air on KMLB 105.7 FM/540 AM and the TuneIn app on the Warhawk Radio Network from Learfield with Mike Hammett on the play-by-play.
PREVIEWING TROY
Following its win versus ULM, Troy dropped the ensuing two conference games but has bounced back with a win at Bowling Green in the MAC-SBC Challenge and a win versus Texas State on Thursday. Troy sits in second place in the conference standings entering Saturday. Troy's lineup features experienced players who hold double-digit scoring averages. The Trojans are led by Makayia Hallmon, a senior transfer from the Ragin' Cajuns, who has averaged 15.4 points per game and has reached double figures in 18 games. Also averaging double figures for Troy is Tai'Sheka Porchia, Ja'Mia Hollings and Nia Daniel. Chanda Rigby earned her 450th collegiate win at Bowling Green last week. She has held coaching experience at Pensacola State, Holmes Community College and Tabor College.
